The studio

A studio of listeners.

Architects, interior designers and researchers working between Lisbon, Dubai and Copenhagen — united by a belief that good buildings should give back more than they take.

Our story

Founded on a simple question.

Atelier began in 2011 with one question: what would a building look like if it were designed for the next fifty years, not the next five? The answer has shaped every project since — fewer materials, honest details and rooms built around how people really live.

Today we are 34 people across three studios, working on homes, hotels and the careful reuse of buildings that already exist.

Principles

Three things we never compromise on.

01

Climate first

We study sun, wind and water before drawing a single wall, so buildings stay comfortable with as little energy as possible.

02

Fewer, better materials

Natural, local and repairable materials that age gracefully — chosen for their carbon, their touch and their lifespan.

03

Built to be lived in

We spend time with the people who will use a place, so every room supports the rituals of their day.

How we work

Four steps, one team.

The same architect leads your project from the first visit to the day you move in.

  1. 01

    Listen

Site visit, brief and a frank conversation about budget and priorities.

  2. 02

    Shape

Concept design, climate studies and models you can walk around.

  3. 03

    Detail

Planning, technical drawings, materials and a fixed construction tender.

  4. 04

    Build

Regular site visits until handover — and a check-in after the first year.
